TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has warned about the possibility of another Israeli attack on Lebanon.
“Unfortunately certain comments (by Israeli officials) indicate the possibility of another attack on the Lebanon resistance,” he said prior to the Friday prayers sermons in Tehran.Tensions along the Israeli border with Lebanon have intensified in recent weeks.
Lebanese and Israeli military forces have deployed in the border regions near Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon recently, with the Lebanese military raising the alert level for its troops.
In the event of such an attack, Arab countries should help the Islamic resistance movement Hezbollah by allowing volunteer forces, Mottaki suggested.
Israel launched a massive offensive on Lebanon on 12 July 2006 in an effort to break up Hezbollah’s military power, but it lost at least 110 of its soldiers and Hezbollah shot hundreds of rockets deep inside Israel.
